Lecture - "Gender issues: reshaping our view of prehistory"
For years, the place of women in palaeolithic and neolithic societies was simply ignored or reduced to crude sexist clichés, reflecting the traditional views prevalent in the 19th century. But in the 1970s, under the influence of feminist movements in English-speaking countries, there was a realisation that a whole, forgotten half of humanity needed to be truly seen for the first time.
