29th edition of the Monaco International Judo Tournament (TIJM)
The Management Committee of the Monegasque Judo Federation has renewed the initiative taken by President Gérard Bertrand to create a team tournament that has borne his name since 2015: the ‘Trophée Gérard Bertrand’.
This 2024 edition will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Monegasque Judo Federation for its president Sophie Vincent, tournament director Florence Garcia and national technical director François Bick, with the help of technical advisor Marcel Pietri who has also invested in creating the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Monegasque Judo Federation.
After the extraordinary Olympic Games in Paris, during which Judo thrilled the world with a team final that saw France win at home against the Japanese, the Salle Gaston Médecin, the usual home of the Roca Team, will also be buzzing with Judo, welcoming more than 100 international judokas.
Each team enters 7 fighters (one per weight category) and the first team to win 4 bouts is declared the winner.
The 14 teams compete in a direct elimination draw with automatic repechage.
Each team fights a minimum of 2 matches during the day.
The entry list will be announced at the beginning of December and should include the nations that are regulars at the Monegasque event, including France, Ukraine, Georgia, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania, as well as a few last-minute surprises and the elite French clubs.
