APIdays : Journées nationales de l'abeille, sentinelle de l’environnement
Since the signing of this partnership in 2005, several beehives have been installed on the roof terrace of the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies in Fontvieille, and are monitored by UNAF, assisted by a team from the Gardens section of the Direction de l'Aménagement Urbain.
This year, on Friday June 16 and Saturday June 17 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, the Direction de l'Aménagement Urbain will be offering free events for young and old in the Jardin de l'Unesco on the terraces of Fontvieille. An opportunity for beekeepers to inform and raise awareness of the fundamental role of bees, the importance of protecting them and the development of French beekeeping.
The theme chosen by UNAF is "Irreplaceable bees". Students from Monaco's Lycée Technique et Hôtelier will be taking part in the event, presenting their connected hive project.
On the program: presentation of the benefits of melliferous plants; an exhibition on the "History of bees"; workshops on making natural wax candles, recognizing the different types of honey and discussions with the beekeeper who will be extracting the honey; games and quizzes...
