Pavillon Bosio Conference - "Éléonore False"

Éléonore False is a French artist based in Paris, with degrees from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2013) and Olivier-de-Serres in textile design (2008). Since 2017, she has been teaching image/photography and sculpture/installation at the Institut supérieur des arts et du design de Toulouse.

The starting point for Éléonore False's practice is collage. She gleans bits and pieces of images from different fields, and after a first stage of coexistence and spatialization between these different images taken from second-hand books, these fragments are then put into volume. Enlarged and cut, they are set in motion by various processes: printing, collage, ceramics, sculpture and weaving.

Éléonore False is particularly interested in the displacement of gesture and domestic space in the field of art, such as the gestures of folding, cutting, arranging, combing, sewing and playing. Her aim is to treat domestic space not as a place of constraint, but as a source of creation, even hallucination.

Éléonore False's solo exhibitions include "Tout me trouble à la surface" at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2021, the result of a research project carried out during a residency in the collections. She has exhibited her work in France and abroad, notably at MRAC Occitanie, Frac Île-de-France "Le Plateau", VNH Gallery and Glassbox Paris, as well as Museo Expérimental El Eco in Mexico City, Centre d'art Diagonale in Montreal and Kunstverein Hannover.

Her work has been presented in various group shows at institutions such as MAC VAL, IAC, CCC OD in Tours, Grand Café in Saint-Nazaire, 40mcube in Rennes, Les Capucins in Embrun, and Triangle-Astérides in Marseille. She has also taken part in several group shows in galleries (Jérôme Poggi, Valeria Cetraro, Galeria Continua) and an exhibition at the Gulbenkian Foundation.

Éléonore False won the Prix des Amis des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She has held residencies at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, the Synagogue de Delme and Triangle-Astérides in Marseille. Her work can be found in public collections such as Frac Sud, Île-de-France and Grand Large, Lafayette Anticipations, FMAC, MAC VAL, MRAC Occitanie, Beaux-Arts de Paris and private collections.

In 2024 and 2025, her work will be the subject of three solo exhibitions: first at the Centre céramique contemporaine La Borne, following a research and production residency in 2023, then at Frac Sud's Plateau Perspectives, curated by Muriel Enjalran, and at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, following the Fluxus Arts Project residency in autumn 2022.

She is currently in residence at NMNM in Monaco.
