Lecture "The rebirth of the Ensérune Museum and Oppidum (Nissan-Lez-Ensérune, Hérault)".
Research carried out on the site in the early 20th century by Félix Mouret uncovered one of the largest protohistoric necropolises in southern France. The excavation of almost 500 cremation tombs led to the creation of one of the richest collections of Celtic weaponry in Europe, as well as Celtic ceramics and ceramics imported from the Greek, Iberian, Etruscan, Roman and Oriental worlds.
These archaeological pieces bear witness to the rich history of this Celtic city, at the crossroads of civilizations in the heart of the Mediterranean, and have earned it the status of national museum since 1935!
