Monaco and the Napoleons: Intertwined Destinies

The exhibition "Monaco and the Napoleons: Intertwined Destinies" will, for the first time, invite visitors to discover the deep ties that united the reigns of the two French emperors, Napoleon I and Napoleon III, with the Grimaldi dynasty.

To tell this fascinating and little-known story — and to shed light on the interactions involving grandeur, power, military exploits, and personal relationships — the event will bring together major historical pieces that illustrate the origins and the formation of the modern Monegasque state.

Artistic and historical treasures revealed for the first time

Thanks to the collaboration of the most prestigious French and Monegasque museums, renowned private collections, the participation of an Italian museum, and the invaluable support of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco — which grants access to many treasures from its collections and archives — nearly 200 works of exceptional historical and artistic value, many of which have rarely or never been shown to the public, will be brought together for this exhibition.

Collections from: H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco – Archives and Library of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco – Fondation Napoléon – Musée Collection des Arts – David and Mikhail Iakobachvili – Musée du Château de Malmaison – Musée National du Château de Compiègne – Musée Masséna – Musée de Sens – Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Museo Napoleonico in Rome – Urach Family Collection and others.
