Duo Köln - Flute & Harp - Tuesday 20th July 2021 at Monaco
The Duo Köln is composed of musicians who enjoy playing chamber music while also performing as soloists. The breaking down of barriers between styles is one of our core values, as diversity in music conveys a message of peace to humanity. We warmly welcome you to share a moment of classical and world music. You are invited to enjoy a multicultural journey of contrasting sound worlds around an eclectic programme for flute & harp, which explores the masterpieces of western music including: Pablo de Sarasate's Fantasy on arias from Bizet's opera Carmen; a sonata by C. P.E. Bach; works by the composers Félix Godefroid, Béla Bartók and Maurice Ravel; the great traveller Camille Saint-Saëns and Nino Rota’s sonata, to whom we owe numerous film scores. We will also introduce you to the colourful sounds of Indian ragas and the music of the Ottoman Empire, Argentina and Japan with pieces by Moldavian-Ottoman prince Dimitrie Cantemir and composers of the likes of Astor Piazzolla and Michio Miyagi.
