Monaco's Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology was founded by Prince Albert I in 1902 "to conserve the remains of primitive humanities unearthed from the soil of the Principality and surrounding regions". It was established within the Jardin Exotique by Prince Rainier III in 1959. The new building was designed by Monegasque architect Louis Rué. Supported by an international Scientific Committee, the Museum team carries out excavations, laboratory studies and scientific articles, in addition to exhibitions and outreach activities.
