Paris, July 1794, during the Terror. Françoise-Thérèse de Choiseul-Stainville, a young French aristocrat who has become a princess of Monaco by marriage, has been in prison for months awaiting trial before the Revolutionary Court - which could see her condemned to the guillotine. Could the sudden arrival in her cell of writer Louis-Sébastien Mercier, who had dreamed of "the most peaceful and happy" revolution, be a sign that she is to escape that cruel fate? Especially as, in the shadows, dark moves are afoot against Robespierre, suspected of harbouring dictatorial ambitions. An unlikely meeting in a tragic setting. Presented by the Diocese of Monaco.
