The maritime industry is entering a decisive period. The pressure to reduce emissions is intensifying, but the path forward remains far from straightforward. Alternative fuels and emerging technologies offer real possibilities, yet questions surrounding cost, availability, infrastructure and safety continue to influence what can realistically be implemented.
At the same time, geopolitical instability is disrupting energy supplies and placing renewed pressure on strategic maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz. For shipowners, captains, crews and legal teams, these developments are creating increasingly complex decisions, particularly when commercial obligations, regulatory requirements and human safety come into conflict.
On Monday 23 November, Monaco Women Network will bring together three experts representing different areas of the maritime industry:
Drawing on their experience across shipping, maritime law, seafarer welfare and renewable energy, the speakers will examine the practical realities behind the transformation of the sector. The conversation will consider which cleaner energy solutions are genuinely viable for shipping and yachting, how evolving international regulations may affect operations, and what happens legally and operationally when vessels are delayed, diverted or exposed to high-risk areas.
The panel will also explore the proposed IMO Net-Zero Framework, the consequences of geopolitical tensions for global maritime activity, and the role Monaco could play in accelerating the adoption of cleaner technologies and fuels.
Rather than another broad conversation about sustainability, The New Maritime Equation will focus on the decisions the industry must make now, and the legal, commercial and human consequences those decisions will carry.
An essential evening for professionals working across shipping, yachting, energy, law, insurance, finance, sustainability and technology, as well as anyone interested in the forces reshaping one of the world’s most strategically important industries.
The panel discussion will be followed by a networking cocktail.
