Le Mystère Ophélia
No, we're not going to tell you a legend, but the true story of Lizzie Siddal, a model highly sought after by the greatest London painters of the 1850s. Famous for the brilliance of her copper hair, the young woman posed for what remains England's most famous painting: "Ophelia." It was by lending her features to Shakespeare's heroine that Lizzie, as if by magic, sealed her fate forever. Strangely, her contemporaries perceived similarities between her destiny and that of the character who so fascinated her. Through the mad and destructive love that bound her to the painter Rossetti, this play, blending theater, painting, film, and poetry, retraces this unsettling destiny and plunges us into one of the most captivating mysteries in art history. And what if Oscar Wilde had drawn inspiration from it for his famous Picture of Dorian Gray?
