To celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, the Stamp and Coin Museum is presenting a unique exhibition entitled « From the Monetary Museum to the Stamp and Coin Museum ».
Designed in collaboration with the Prince’s Palace, this exhibition highlights the often little-known origins of Monaco’s first monetary museum and traces its gradual evolution into the institution it is today.
The exhibition notably showcases the prestigious philatelic and numismatic collection of Prince Rainier III, a visionary sovereign and passionate collector, whose personal involvement greatly contributed to the richness and international reputation of Monaco’s collections.
Through this temporary exhibition, the museum reaffirms its essential role in preserving and promoting the historical heritage of the Principality, while exploring the close links between stamps, coins, and national history.
Whether you are a collector, a history enthusiast, or simply curious, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover an essential aspect of Monaco’s cultural heritage.
Exhibition curator: Jean-Louis Charlet, numismatic expert and member of the Consultative Commission for Philatelic and Numismatic Collections of H.S.H. the Prince.
