A little history
In the late 1950s,
motoring enthusiast Prince Rainier III began his collection of classic cars.
Over the years, the collection grew and the garage of the Prince’s Palace soon
proved too small to contain the hundred or so superb automobiles, with their
majestic or sporty lines, beautiful bodywork, gleaming bonnets, and royal
grilles!
And so in 1993, Prince Rainier III decided to put his treasures on public
display.
This 3,500 m2 exhibition, the only one of its kind in the world, comprises
around 70 vehicles including racing cars that have competed in the Monte-Carlo
Rally and the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.
Visitors can step back in
time and relive the most important moments in the history of the Princely
Family, as told through unique cars such as the Chrysler that Prince Rainier
had brought over specially from the USA to collect Princess Grace at the port,
or the landaulet Lexus built for the wedding of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and
H.S.H. Princess Charlene in 2011.
There is also a space dedicated to a selection of racing cars, with models that
demonstrated their prowess in Formula 1, the Monte-Carlo Rally, or the
Paris-Dakar Rally.
