Digue du Port Hercule

A colossal structure measuring 352 metres in length and weighing 160,000 tonnes, the Port Hercule breakwater has the distinctive feature of being semi-floating in order to preserve marine fauna and flora.

It was towed to the Principality and moored at the foot of the Rock. It was complemented by a 145-metre-long counter-breakwater.

The new breakwater also allows large cruise ships to be accommodated, with vessels measuring up to 300 metres in length.

This new outer harbour has also made it possible to create an additional basin for large yachts, accommodating around twenty yachts measuring between 35 and 60 metres, as well as two 100-metre yachts, opposite the new yacht club, a decidedly modern building designed by Sir N. Foster.
