Traditions - "Feast of St John"
The Feast of Saint John, known locally as "La Saint Jean", is a celebration of fire and light. In the Principality, the "batafoegu" (bonfire) is lit on the evening of 23 June, in Palace Square, and on Place des Moulins on the night of 24 June. Both festive evenings, organised in collaboration with the Saint Jean Club, will feature live folk music by bands including La Palladienne de Monaco and the choral group "U Cantin d'A Roca". Before the "batafoegus" are lit, there will be religious services at the Prince’s Palace Chapel and Saint Charles Church.
