Theatre - "Mon Ami La Fontaine"
Of all the great minds of the 17th century, with whom Nicolas Fouquet surrounded himself and who would illuminate the reign of the Sun King Louis XIV himself, the foremost was perhaps Jean de la Fontaine. The writer of fables was also one of the boldest, in the face of a youthful monarch greedy for power, and the only one of those great minds to remain a faithful supporter of his friend, Fouquet, for whom he regularly petitioned the King for clemency, in vain.
