The Monegasque Theatre Company Les Farfadets presents the première of its brand new creation, about the sulfurous and fascinating Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, icon of the Roaring Twenties and wife of Francis Scott Fitzgerald, author of The Great Gatsby
Despite everything that has been written about her, Zelda remains a mysterious and controversial figure. Throughout her life, this captivating, inexorably free woman, who was also an artist in need of recognition, fought tirelessly to emerge from the shadows. The shadows of her husband, of the conventions of her social class and family, of her role as a wife and mother, and finally, the shadows of an archaic and barbaric psychiatric environment, machine for crushing any out-of-the-box personality and any free spirit.
In this marvelous text by Christian Siméon, with irreverence and irony, Zelda recounts the excesses of her era, the Roaring Twenties. But above all, she provokes us, questions our ability to accept difference and to exist as we are. With our flaws, our contradictions, our dark sides... and our light.
